Love our Pollinators
Earlier this summer, I had the honor of being a featured live painting artist at the Smoky Hill River Festival in Salina, Kansas. I’ve been fortunate enough to participate in this event for several years, and it remains one of my favorite art festivals. The visitors are always so welcoming, and I love the vibe of the live music. This year, I created a piece focused on the importance of protecting pollinators, a topic I’m passionate about.
Since the festival places the completed artwork somewhere in the community, creating large pieces can present a bit of a challenge. To make it more manageable, I broke the piece into multiple panels, each featuring different characters, allowing for easier installation in various locations. One of my favorite parts of live painting is engaging with the kids who always gather around to watch. As you can see in a few of these photos, I like to show them how quickly spray paint can work and emphasize how controlling the medium is a key part of the art process!
