Children’s Mercy Jet

Some of these blog posts may be a bit out of order, but I’m trying to be better about diving deeper into things I haven’t shared much about. One project that stands out as one of the wildest experiences I’ve had was painting a jet for Children’s Mercy Hospital. My buddy Jason and I flew down to Louisiana to paint it at PHI. By that point, we’d already painted two helicopters and another propeller plane, but this was on a whole different level.

When you consider the cost of the canvas we were working with and the trust the hospital administration placed in me, it really hit me how much of an honor it was. The whole team had so much faith in our ability to pull it off. Like with other projects, I had to shake off my nerves, and once we did, we dove in full steam ahead. The jet was going to carry a super bunny design that represented the kids being transported—kids who were the real heroes.

The team at PHI is incredible. They transport stable kids to medical facilities that can offer treatments and specialists they can’t get back home. It’s such an amazing and important mission to witness firsthand. Jason and I worked tirelessly to make the design look as professional and polished as possible, and the folks at PHI were a fantastic support system throughout the entire process.

Looking back on this project, I have nothing but fond memories. I got to travel with a friend, create art for an amazing cause, and even saw a few alligators along the way! What an unforgettable experience.

The finished photo of this jet is in my Work section under Transport.
